The Mela Advisory Group has been established since the inception of the Mela in 2003. The group is made up of representatives from local community organisations.
The group is chaired by Gurvinder Sandher from the Kent Equality Cohesion Council.
Organising an event like the Maidstone Mela requires a lot of input and discussion by a variety of local community organisations. This helps ensure a social event of this scale reflects a strong and balanced view of the different cultures residing in the locality of Maidstone.
It is important for everyone in the group to provide their view and expertise of how best to represent their cultural activities at the Mela so that the overall objective of the Mela is met – to provide a fun and activity packed weekend for everyone to enjoy.
